(LOTUS) Lab

About Us

The Lotus Lab is a trauma-focused research lab that operates under Dr. Emma Lathan-Powell in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Auburn University.

---

Our community-based work seeks to enhance the outcomes of individuals exposed to sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and other forms of interpersonal trauma.

---

Our research utilizes action-oriented mixed methods to address trauma as a public health concern and enact sustainable, system-level, trauma-informed change.

Why the lotus?

In many cultures, the lotus is a symbol of strength and resilience. Lotus flowers take root in mud, growing towards the sun even in dirty water. Lotuses boast a large, colorful bloom, despite their origins in adversity.
